Probate Council Recognizes Judges, Swears-in Executive Committee

Athens, GA —The Council of Probate Court Judges (CPCJ) has named Judge Keith Wood of Cherokee County as the 2015 Outstanding Probate Judge of the Year.  Judge Wood served as the Probate Judges Training chair from 2014-2015. The Council’s Special Recognition Award has been presented to Judge Pam Ferguson of Clayton County in recognition for her work as the longstanding chair of the Court Rules and Forms Committee.

             The new Executive committee for CPCJ includes President - Judge Don Wilkes, Emanuel County; President Elect - Judge Alice Padgett, Columbia County; First Vice President - Judge Rooney Bowen, III, Dooly County; and Secretary-Treasurer - Judge Darin McCoy, Evans County.

The executive committee swearing-in and awards presentations were made at the Council’s Spring Banquet in Athens on March 25, 2015. The guest speaker for the event was Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

Each year, the CPCJ Banquet and Awards Ceremony is attended by the state’s elected probate judges, associate probate judges, senior judges, clerks of the probate court, and staff of the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education and Administrative Office of the Courts.
