The Office of Communications, Children, Families, and the Courts supports court system initiatives and partnerships that improve outcomes for Georgia's most vulnerable citizens – children, the elderly, victims of domestic violence, and families seeking child support. It includes staff support to the Child Support Commission, the Committee on Justice for Children, the Access, Fairness, and Public Trust and Confidence Committee and oversees grant management for victims of domestic violence. A combination of state, federal and private funds finance this work. The staff serves as a liaison to the Council of Accountability Court Judges and Georgia Commission on Family Violence. This office also houses the communications department for the entire AOC.
The Child Support Collaborative is an interagency agreement between the JC/AOC and Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) of the Department of Human Services to address child support issues of mutual concern. A major role is training, education, and assignment to the JC/AOC of the DCSS's statutory responsibility to staff the Child Support Commission. Click here for the Child Support Collaborative website
The mission of the Supreme Court Committee on Justice for Children (J4C) is to improve court processes for abused and neglected children. J4C was created in 1995 and is funded by federal Court Improvement Project grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Click here for the Justice for Children website
The Office of Communications develops and implements a public relations plan for the JC/AOC. Staff responds to inquiries from judges, court personnel, media, criminal justice agencies, and the general public about courts across Georgia. This office also oversees the production of print and digital publications.
