Grants management

The AOC helps local courts in pursuing grants for court-related projects. It identifies funding opportunities, assists in preparing grant budgets, financial reports, and project evaluations. The AOC has managed over 150 grants totaling more than $48.7 million from federal, state and private foundation sources.

Accountability Courts/Drug and DUI Courts

The AOC provides support to Georgia’s Accountability Courts include Adult/Felony Drug Courts, DUI Courts, Juvenile Drug Courts, Family Dependency Treatment Courts, and Mental Health Courts. These courts promote personal responsibility by holding the participant accountable for his/her actions and behaviors while promoting public safety.

Children, Family, and the Courts

The Committee on Justice for Children strives to improve Georgia's court process for civil child abuse and neglect cases.

The Commission on Children, Marriage, and Family Law

This committee will study the legal issues associated with family fragmentation, in recognition of the growing domestic relations caseload in Georgia, and will work to ensure justice and protection for Georgia’s children.

The Georgia Child Support Commission

This commission was created by the Legislature to study and collect information and data relating to awards of child support. The committee has made a comprehensive review of the child support guidelines and created a child support obligation table.

Governmental Affairs

The AOC’s Governmental Affairs Division works closely with the General Assembly and its committees to provide accurate information on the judicial branch. It monitors court-related legislation that is moving through the General Assembly, and educates legislators about issues of concern to the judiciary. While the General Assembly is in session, the department maintains a website that is updated daily with the status of relevant legislation.
