Judicial Liaison
The Judicial Liaison Section serves as the primary interface between the AOC and the councils that represent Georgia's magistrate, municipal and probate court judges. Staff provide administrative support services to these councils and assists in the facilitation of business meetings and judicial education training. Staff also publishes newsletters, judicial benchbooks and handbooks to keep court professionals abreast of news, information and current legal mandates.
Communications and Publications
The Communications group publishes the annual Georgia Courts Directory, a resource relied on by the broad legal community for its listings of names and contact information about judges, court administrators and other court personnel in Georgia. A quarterly newsletter, Georgia Courts Journal, provides news and information of interest to court officials throughout the state. The department issues press releases on issues of importance to the courts, and responds to inquiries from the public and the media.
Georgia Committee on Access and Fairness in the Courts
The AOC carries out the mandate of the Supreme Court Commission on Equality, which is now known as the Georgia Committee on Access and Fairness in the Courts to promote gender equality and minimize racial and ethnic bias in all Georgia courts. It does this through education and training. It also works to improve the treatment of adult victims of sexual violence in the justice system. In addition, the AOC maintains a list of certified interpreters for the hearing impaired.
Jury Management
The Court Services Division assists judges, court administrators and jury commissioners with issues involving jury management.
