The Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC) project explores the judiciary's role in improving Georgia's ICPC process. The project began in 2008 by surveying all Georgia juvenile court judges on the effectiveness of Georgia's ICPC process. Click here to view the survey results.
 
 
Major goals for improving ICPC:
  1. Will publish an article on ICPC as done per J4C committee member and Director of the Office of Child Advocate.
  2. Will distribute ICPC contact information for the United States. Click here to view the ICPC contact information.
  3. Will teach the most up to date information on ICPC. Click here to view the most recent presentation materials.
  4. Will work on an information technology tool to create a feedback loop to an ICPC case.
  5. Will meet regularly with the agency to see what improvements can be made to the ICPC process.
 
Progress:
The Committee on Justice for Children has worked diligently to improve Georgia's ICPC process by meeting the goals set out above. So far, Justice for Children committee member and Office of the Child Advocate Director, Tom Rawlings pulbished an article concerning Georgia's ICPC process. Click here to view the article. An ICPC website was distributed via a judicial list serv. Click here to view the website. ICPC classes are taught by Judge Hammond. Judge Hammond is also working with IT developers on a technology system to share more ICPC information and talking to ICPC staff in Florida about an automated system. A meeting between court and agency representatives to discuss ICPC improvements is pending.
